Competitions
National Championships
Each year, NZ Skydiving sanctions National Championships across a range of disciplines to determine New Zealand Champions and provide a pathway towards international competition.
Disciplines may include:
- Formation Skydiving (FS) : 2-way & 4-way
- Vertical Formation Skydiving (VFS) : 2-way
- Wingsuiting
- Canopy Piloting & Canopy Piloting Freestyle (CP)
- Speed
- Accuracy & Style (when scheduled)
International Representation
NZ Skydiving supports eligible athletes and teams representing New Zealand at international competitions, including:
- FAI World Championships
- World Cups
- Regional and invitational events
- International record attempts
Support may include eligibility advice, administration and coordination of international entries.
FAI Sporting Licence
To compete internationally or participate in FAI-recognised records, you’ll need an FAI Sporting Licence. Applications are made through Flying NZ. To be eligible, you must be a current NZ Skydiving member in good standing.

NZ National Team
The NZ National Team represents the highest level of competitive skydiving in New Zealand.
Athletes who win their discipline at the NZ National Championships may be eligible for selection, subject to the qualification requirements for that discipline.
Representing New Zealand is an opportunity to compete against the world’s best while promoting New Zealand skydiving on the international stage.
Canopy Piloting National Team
NZ Skydiving maintains a dedicated Canopy Piloting National Team Manual outlining:
- athlete eligibility
- selection criteria
- qualification pathways
- performance expectations
- funding support
Funding for Canopy Piloting athletes is based on experience, performance and results at recognised competitions.
