The New Zealand Skydiving Awards recognise people who contribute to our sport through their skill, energy and generosity. Congratulations to this year’s recipients, and thank you for everything you bring to the skydiving community.
New Zealand Skydiver of the Year:
Ben Johnstone
Ben received the New Zealand Skydiver of the Year Award for his outstanding contributions to the sport, particularly his work with Drop X and skydiving displays.
Outstanding Contribution Award:
Liz Holden
Liz was recognised for her ongoing dedication and commitment to New Zealand skydiving, especially through her work with Fly WILD.
Rising Star Award:
Hayden Benton
A familiar face in Taupō, Hayden is always keen to join a training camp or jump with newer skydivers. His enthusiasm and willingness to get involved make him a deserving Rising Star.
We’d also like to give a special mention to Jacob Wang for the positivity he brings to the sport, his support for boogies, and the services he provides free of charge at the drop zone.
SARGE Award:
Kelly Cullen
Kelly received the SARGE Award for her contribution to Drop X and the welcome she extends to skydivers at drop zones around New Zealand. She also looks after visiting skydivers travelling through the Christchurch area, helping them feel at home in our community.
Congratulations to Ben, Liz, Hayden and Kelly, and thank you to everyone who helps make New Zealand skydiving what it is.
