Skydivers Certificates
Whether you’re a New Zealand skydiver or visiting from overseas, all experienced skydivers jumping at an NZ Skydiving-affiliated drop zone must hold an NZ Skydiving Parachute Certificate (this does not apply to students and tandem passengers).
If you already hold a parachute certificate issued by another organisation, you may be eligible for an NZ Skydiving certificate based on your existing qualifications and experience.
Which certificate do I need?
Visitor Certificate
A Visitor Certificate is designed for experienced overseas skydivers who intend to jump in New Zealand for a short period.
- Valid for 90 days
- Available to holders of recognised overseas licences
- A, B, C and D endorsements available (subject to eligibility)

- Not eligible for instructor or other operational ratings

Full Parachute Certificate
A Full Parachute Certificate is intended for New Zealand skydivers and those planning to skydive in New Zealand over the longer term or on repeated visits.
- Valid for life, subject to annual affiliation requirements
- A, B, C and D endorsements recognised to FAI standards
- Eligible for additional ratings
- Better value for long-term participation

What will I need?
When applying for either certificate, you’ll generally need:
- Your current parachute certificate (if applicable)
- Your logbook
- Photo identification
- Your parachute equipment (if using your own)
Applications can be completed at most NZ Skydiving-affiliated drop zones. We recommend contacting the drop zone beforehand to confirm availability.
All skydivers are required to comply with NZ Skydiving’s operational standards and procedures while jumping at affiliated drop zones.
