Converting Overseas Ratings
If you hold a skydiving rating issued by an overseas organisation, it is not automatically valid at drop zones in New Zealand. In many cases, however, your existing qualifications and experience can be assessed towards obtaining the equivalent NZ Skydiving rating.
Why do I need an NZ Skydiving rating?
New Zealand Civil Aviation Rules require anyone exercising the privileges of a rating at an NZ Skydiving-affiliated drop zone to hold the equivalent NZ Skydiving rating. This applies to overseas ratings as well as ratings issued by other New Zealand organisations.
How do I convert my rating?
The first step is to contact an NZ Skydiving Assessor.
The Assessor will review your:
- Current ratings and qualifications
- Skydiving experience
- Currency
- Logbook and supporting documentation
They will then determine whether you meet the requirements for the equivalent NZ Skydiving rating and advise you of any additional assessment or training that may be required.
What about older NZPF ratings?
Older NZPF ratings cannot be directly converted to NZ Skydiving ratings. However, they may still be recognised as evidence of your previous experience and training. An NZ Skydiving Assessor will assess your qualifications and recommend the most appropriate pathway to obtaining the current NZ Skydiving rating.
